About Us

Great American Creamery Company is a fully-featured micro creamery concept located in the heart of Downtown Reading, PA. Serving soft serve & hand dipped ice cream cones, sundaes, milkshakes, specialty frozen deserts. “Pop up” events are available for community, corporate, and personal occasions! We are proud to source our hand dipped ice cream form Penn State University’s world renowned Berkey Creamery.

Principal Balasios Lahaniatis is a second generation Ice Cream Man. Born and raised in Reading, he helped his father Manny for more then 30 years serve the families of North East Reading from “Manny’s Ice Cream” Truck. Continuing the legacy, Balasios is an alumni of the prestigious Penn State School of Agriculture Ice Cream Short Course, class of 2020. Trained on the Berkey recipe he will develop the signature Great American Creamery classics, as well as premise made soft serve, whip cream, and novelties.

Lucine Sihelnik, owner, has worked in the Greater Reading area for over 15 years on Agriculture, Community and Economic Development projects through her own Community Organization, Gayatri Wellness. She brings an expertise of strategic partnerships, planning, and leadership. Her passion is to source locally to support the “cow to cone” model and bring fundamental sustainability principals to guide the establishment and expansion of the micro-creamery model.
