About Us

HealthSouth Reading Rehabilitation Hospital is dedicated to the medical, physical and cognitive recovery of each and every patient. As a freestanding acute rehabilitation hospital, HealthSouth specializes in rehabilitation and recovery. Our hospital provides a wide range of physical rehabilitation services, a vast network of highly skilled, independent private practice physicians and HealthSouth therapists and nurses, and the most innovative equipment and rehabilitation technology, ensuring that all patients have access to the highest quality care.

The original hospital was located in the Stone Manor, which was once the mansion-home of Hosiery Magnate Isaac Eberly. In 1960, Isaac’s widow Katherine sold the mansion and grounds to the Seventh-day Adventists, an organization which converted the mansion house into a 57-bed acute rehabilitation hospital. In December of 1960, the first patient was admitted to the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital.

For over 50 years, the Reading Rehabilitation Hospital has been serving patients from Berks, Chester, Montgomery, Lehigh, Lancaster counties and beyond.
